Silkwood School

‘Gwongubunga – little river’

Silkwood School’s ‘Gwongbunga – Little River’ Project is based on the notion that in order to help save and conserve waterways, people have to connect with them physically and emotionally. The project delivers interactive sustainable environment and local Indigenous learning programs which utilise Silkwood’s natural surrounds, wildlife corridors, waterways, native habitats and outdoor ‘learn-scapes’. An extensive range of interactive, hands-on workshops have been run by students for students on various topics including; building connections to local waterways through Indigenous knowledge; what happens to our waterways; living by the creek; biodiversity assessments and many more.
