Seqwater (A)

The Stanley River Management Partnership
Stanley River, Neurum District

Seqwater, Moreton Bay Regional Council and SEQ Catchments worked collaboratively to achieve important environmental benefits through the Stanley River Restoration Program.

In 2015, Seqwater invested $1.25 million to manage Cat’s Claw Creeper and to remediate stream bank erosion along the Stanley River and its major tributaries.

The program has developed significant social capital for the protection of the Stanley River by bringing multiple organisations, youth and landholders together to raise awareness of the issues in the river and to build support for the ongoing program of works.

The program has also created significant employment opportunities for local youth in a high unemployment area through two Green Armies, which provided training and paid traineeships for 18 local youths and a supervisor.
